Since the beginning of this year, 2022, the Israeli occupation forces have increased its violations against the Palestinians as it targeting them with various lethal weapons, stormed Palestinian cities and towns, assaults citizens, and fired live ammunition’s at them, leading to deaths and injuries of many Palestinians.
On Friday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights announced that Israeli security forces, IOF, had killed 118 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank this year.
At a weekly press briefing at the United Nations office in Geneva, UNHCR spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani said that recent weeks have witnessed an alarming increase in clashes and violence against civilians in the region, as the IOF continue to use lethal violence against the Palestinians. She added that “This year, 118 Palestinians, including 26 children and 5 women, were shot dead by Israeli security forces in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.”
She stated that three Palestinians, including a child, were killed this year by Jewish settlers
In recent years, the shooting of Palestinians increased to the extent that some Palestinians were killed without posing any danger, but simply because they were suspected to plan for operations against Israeli soldiers.
The international humanitarian law prohibits targeting civilians, and stresses the respect for their lives, their physical and mental integrity, and their protection and humane treatment.
