22 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli jails since October 7, 2023; the most recent was Kifah Dabaya, a 34-year-old injured prisoner from the northern West Bank town of Kafr Dhan, west of Jenin. He passed away at the Israeli Rambam Hospital.
Dabaya died of gunfire wounds he sustained by the Israeli occupation forces during his arrest on August 6, along with two other young men who were also injured and arrested: Jihad Hussein and Ahmed Farahti, during the recent aggression on Jenin and its camp.
The shooting crime against the detainee Kifah Dabaya during the recent invasion of Jenin came as part of the unprecedented and ongoing crimes that the Israeli occupation has been waging against the Palestinian people since October 7.
Dabaya’s death brings the total number of Palestinian prisoners died in Israeli jails since the start of the genocide war on the Gaza Strip to 22, while dozens of deaths are continued to be undeclared.
Palestinian prisoners and detainees have died in the Israeli prisons, camps, and hospitals after being subjected to torture, starvation, medical negligence, and shooting during arrest.
Since 1967, 259 Palestinian prisoners have died behind Israeli bars. The highest number of prisoner deaths was recorded since the start of the genocide war.
Hardline Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has called for the execution of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails by shooting them in the head.
In a video statement, Ben-Gvir insisted that Palestinian prisoners should be killed with a ‘shot to the head’. He urged the passing of the bill in the Israeli Knesset for executing prisoners, promising to provide minimal food to keep them alive until the law is enacted.
