Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) stated that that Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people have escalated to horrific levels, with ongoing mass killings in Gaza amounting to a deliberate and systematic genocide, and apartheid policies coupled with brutal repression in the West Bank. These atrocities continue in the face of global silence and sustained complicity from both Western and Arab governments.
AOHR UK highlighted that documented figures reveal the unprecedented scale of devastation in Gaza: 70% of homes have been destroyed, 1.9 million people displaced, 85% of schools, 99% of universities, 69% of hospitals, and 90% of economic establishments have been wiped out. The number of people killed by the Israeli war machine has exceeded 54,000, including more than 18,000 children and 12,000 women, in addition to thousands of elderly civilians and hundreds of medical, educational, and media professionals. Over 11,000 others remain missing, either buried under the rubble or unaccounted for.
AOHR UK added that Israeli crimes are ongoing in the West Bank as well, where over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 7, 2023, including 197 children and 21 women. The Israeli army continues to storm cities, villages, and refugee camps, carrying out raids, arrests, home demolitions, and forced displacement. Settlers have been unleashed to attack Palestinian residents, and 22 new settlements have recently been approved to solidify control over the West Bank.
AOHR UK highlighted that alongside the killing, destruction, and displacement, Israel has employed starvation as a weapon of war. It completely closed all crossings, targeted food warehouses, bakeries, and water desalination plants. The starvation policy reached its peak when Israel fully blocked the entry of humanitarian aid on March 18, 2025. Two months later, it resumed limited aid deliveries, channelled through American companies under Israeli military supervision—an attempt to militarise humanitarian aid and use it as a tool to blackmail the population.
AOHR UK further reported that Israel has deliberately targeted medical facilities and personnel, in blatant violation of the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law. Hospitals and health centres have been systematically destroyed, with over 50% of hospitals completely out of service and the remaining operating only partially with primitive tools. More than 1,400 healthcare workers have been killed while performing their duties, and thousands of families have been denied access to urgent medical care. The few remaining hospitals are under siege and deprived of vital supplies, turning patients and the wounded into either direct targets or victims of deliberate medical neglect.
AOHR UK emphasised that Israel’s continued commission of atrocities reflects a deeply rooted belief that it enjoys complete impunity—fostered by the international community’s failure to take concrete action beyond hollow statements or non-binding threats of sanctions. This inaction only emboldens Israel to escalate its massacres against civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, while it systematically destroys neighbourhoods, hospitals, and infrastructure.
AOHR UK stressed that statements and press releases are no longer sufficient and cannot be regarded as a serious response to the crime of the century unfolding in plain view. The international community must move beyond rhetorical condemnations and implement immediate practical measures, including political and economic sanctions, halting arms exports to Israel, and prosecuting Israeli leaders for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
AOHR UK also stated that responsibility for the ongoing genocide does not lie with Israel alone, but also with Western governments that provide it with political cover and military and financial support. These governments have not only failed to stop the crimes but have actively enabled them by obstructing international resolutions and shielding Israel from legal consequences at global institutions.
AOHR UK further condemned the role of certain Arab regimes that have chosen to normalise relations with the Israeli occupation, effectively becoming complicit partners in the ongoing atrocities. These regimes have welcomed war criminals, promoted cultural, economic, and security cooperation with Israel—all while the Palestinian people are being massacred.
AOHR UK stressed that the time has come for serious and effective action to stop this catastrophe. The international community must bear its ethical and legal responsibilities toward the Palestinian people. History will not forgive those who remained silent, facilitated, or legitimised this injustice. Immediate, transparent investigations must be launched, and United Nations resolutions guaranteeing Palestinians the right to self-determination and an end to the occupation must be enforced.
