Organized assaults by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have escalated, accompanied by direct support from Israeli occupation forces, as part of a recurring pattern of violence aimed at imposing new settlement realities on the ground.
In the Bireh Kisan area east of Bethlehem, a group of settlers destroyed a Palestinian nature reserve spanning approximately 100 dunams. It seized solar panels and electric generators owned by resident Hassan Al-Shaalan.
In the northern Jordan Valley, settlers stormed a house in Khirbet Ibziq, looted its contents, and vandalized it. They also set fire to a simple agricultural shelter in the Qa’oun area, which had served as a rest stop for workers and farmers during extreme heat, endangering their safety in this remote area lacking basic protections.
Additionally, “grazing-related” attacks were recorded in the Shalal al-Auja area east of the West Bank, where settlers invaded the site with their flocks, an aggressive tactic aimed at intimidating Palestinian residents and forcing them off their land.
In the northern West Bank, agricultural lands in the village of Burqa, northwest of Nablus, were torched by settlers backed by Israeli occupation forces, who also fired tear gas canisters at Palestinian homes.
These actions form part of a broader strategy to empty grazing and agricultural lands of their indigenous Palestinian residents to expand illegal settlements—an explicit violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit an occupying power from transferring its civilian population into occupied territory.
This recurring pattern of attacks reflects a systematic policy in which settler violence is intertwined with official military backing, effectively dismantling the basic foundations of Palestinian existence, particularly in Area C, which remains under full Israeli control.
Since October 7, 2023, Palestinian officials have documented the killing of 29 Palestinians in the West Bank at the hands of settlers, including seven since the start of this year. Observers describe this violence as a form of “silent ethnic cleansing,” carried out largely away from media attention.
Palestinian statistics indicate that since the outbreak of the recent war on Gaza, Israeli forces and settlers have killed no fewer than 1,010 Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, injured around 7,000, and arrested over 18,000 in brutal, sweeping campaigns.
Meanwhile, in Gaza, Israel’s wide-ranging war continues to decimate all facets of life, in blatant defiance of international resolutions and International Court of Justice orders to halt the genocide. This assault has resulted in over 206,000 killed or injured, most of them women and children, along with thousands of missing persons and famine claiming additional lives.
Events in the West Bank are seen as complementary to a broader war aimed at eradicating the Palestinian presence entirely. This is not merely about “security responses” but part of a long-term colonial project designed to dismantle Palestinian society and strip it of its land, life, and sovereignty.
