The number of Palestinians killed by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and settlers has risen to 203 since the start of 2023, including 38 children and 11 women.
The latest victim was Muhammad Farid Shawqi Al-Za’arir, 15, who was shot dead on Tuesday evening near Al-Samou’ town, south of Hebron.
The boy was shot dead near the settlement of Eshtemoa, illegally built on Palestinian land, while the IOF blocked ambulance cars from approaching him.
Al-Za’arir is a school student who just finished the ninth grade at Al-Bukhari Basic School for Boys, south of Hebron.
International humanitarian law prohibits targeting civilians and subjecting them to attack, whether a group or an individual, and stresses respect for their lives, their physical and mental integrity, and their protection and humane treatment.
International human rights organisations must stop such egregious abuses, protect Palestinian children, and hold the perpetrators accountable.
