For 281 days, the Israeli occupation has continued its genocidal assault on Gaza, resulting in a catastrophic number of deaths and injuries among Palestinians. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reports that the death toll has risen to 38,443, with 88,481 wounded. Among the victims, 70 percent are children and women.
The Ministry detailed that the Israeli forces have committed four major massacres against families in Gaza, with 61 dead and 129 wounded. Many victims remain under the rubble or stranded on roads, inaccessible to ambulance and civil defence crews due to ongoing hostilities.
According to the latest government statistics in Gaza, the Israeli occupation has committed 3,388 massacres since October 7. These massacres have claimed the lives of 16,054 children, 10,700 women, 500 health personnel, 75 members of the Civil Defence, and 158 journalists. Additionally, 10,000 people are reported missing, and 5,000 have been arrested, including 310 health personnel and 23 journalists.
The war has left nearly 17,000 Palestinian children in Gaza without their families, either because their parents were killed, arrested, or remain missing under the rubble. Among these children, many are at risk of death due to malnutrition and lack of food. The ongoing blockade and destruction of infrastructure have exacerbated their plight.
The media office in Gaza has reported that 12,000 individuals need urgent medical treatment outside Gaza, and 3,000 patients with various diseases require treatment abroad. Additionally, 10,000 cancer patients face life-threatening conditions without access to necessary medical care. Infectious diseases have surged, with over 1.7 million cases reported due to displacement. More than two million people have been displaced within Gaza, and there are 71,338 cases of viral hepatitis among them. The lack of healthcare has put 60,000 pregnant women and 350,000 patients with chronic illnesses at severe risk.
The scale of destruction inflicted by the Israeli occupation is staggering. The Israeli army has dropped 80,000 tons of explosives on Gaza, destroying 197 government buildings, 443 schools, universities, and educational institutions, 820 mosques, three churches, and 206 archaeological sites. Housing infrastructure has been decimated, with 150,000 units completely destroyed, 80,000 rendered uninhabitable, and 200,000 partially damaged. Additionally, 3,030 kilometres of electricity networks have been annihilated.
Healthcare facilities have been systematically targeted, with 34 hospitals and 66 health centres put out of service, 161 health institutions destroyed, and 131 ambulances completely ruined. The direct initial losses of this genocidal war on Gaza amount to an estimated 33 billion US dollars.
Since October 7, Gaza has endured a humanitarian and health catastrophe due to continuous bombings and the blockade of essential supplies like food, water, medicine, and electricity. This ongoing Israeli aggression represents a gross violation of international humanitarian law and human rights, placing civilian lives and properties in grave danger.
Urgent intervention from the international community is needed to stop the genocide and protect Gaza’s civilians. Global institutions must enforce adherence to international laws and treaties, safeguard human rights, and hold accountable those responsible for the war crimes in Gaza.
