Recent weeks have seen a steep rise in violence committed by Israeli settlers in the West Bank against Palestinians and their properties.
Israeli forces did not intervene to stop the attacks in most cases, and often actively join in.
Over the past 48 hours, Israeli settlers attacked 40 Palestinian homes in the northern West Bank, injuring dozens of local residents.
Last weekend, from Friday, December 17 to Sunday, December 19, 2021, several settlers’ attacks were reported on a number of Palestinian villages in northern the occupied West Bank, including armed attacks.
During the attacks, the settlers stoned 25 houses in the town of Burqa, southwest of Nablus, and five others in the village of Sebastia, to the north of the city.
Another 10 houses were attacked by settlers in the nearby village of Deir Sharaf. Similar attacks were also reported in Qaryut, Qusra and Al-Lubban, south of Nablus.
Dozens were injured during the reported attacks, including members of the same families, women and elderly persons.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that from January to November, Israeli settlers carried out 427 attacks in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem.
There are more than 300 illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank, which Israel occupied in 1967.
More than 666,000 Jewish settlers residents make life more difficult for Palestinians living under the occupation.
