Five Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli occupation prisons continue their open hunger strike, protesting against their administrative detention. Those are; Saif Qassem Hamdan, 19, Osama Maher Khalil, 23, Qusai Jamal Khedr, 25, Saleh Raafat Rabaiah, 22, and Kayed Al-Fasfous.
Following the announcement of their hunger strike on July 30. 2023, the Israeli prison administration transferred Hamdan, Khalil, Khader, and Rabaiah, to the Nafha prison cells.
-Hamdan, from Nablus, has been detained since October 4, 2022, while
-Rabaiah, from Jenin, has been detained for the first time in his life since February 8, 2023.
– Khedr from Ramallah, has been detained since December 14, 2022, and previously spent 14 months in the occupation prisons. Shortly after his release, he was rearrested again.
-Khalil from Tubas has been detained since May 17, 2022.
-Al-Fasfous, 34, from Hebron, is in the “Negev” prison, and continues his hunger strike for the second day in a row.
Administrative detainees continue their attempts to end the crime of administrative detention, and hunger strike has been the most prominent way for prisoners.
Administrative detention is a detention without charge or trial, based on a secret that neither the detainee nor his lawyer have access to, and according to the military orders of the occupation.
The administrative detention order can be renewed unlimited times. It is issued for a maximum period of six months, renewable, in violation of the international humanitarian law.
The number of administrative prisoners is 1200, which is the highest since Al-Aqsa Uprising.
The number of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons is about 4900, including 28 female prisoners, and the number of prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment is 559.
