Today, Monday, the Israeli occupation authorities arrested Palestinian journalist Ahmed Qatamesh from his home in the city of Al-Bireh in the central occupied West Bank.
With Qatamesh’s arrest, the number of detained Palestinian journalists in the occupation prisons increases to 19, including five authors and intellectuals.
Qatamesh, 69, is a Palestinian writer and author. He was previously arrested by the Israeli army several times, and his total years in the occupation’s prisons is about 14 years, according to human rights organisations.
The occupation authorities continue to pursue media professionals, journalists, writers and academics for sharing their opinions and activity on social media, and for their media work, which exposes all kinds of violations of the occupation against the Palestinian people .
Over the past year, 2020, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate had previously documented 490 Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists and media institutions according to a statement issued in mid-January.
The number of prisoners in the Israeli occupation prisons is about 4600, including 35 female prisoners, and about 200 children.
