On Thursday night and Friday, the Israeli occupation forces stormed a Gilboa Prison in the occupied northern Palestinian territories in 1948 and assaulted 90 prisoners.
According to Palestinian human rights sources, heavily armed special “suppressive” forces stormed Section 1 of Gilboa Prison and continued their repression until dawn on Friday, where the forces carried out extensive searches in the section, and assaulted the prisoners, who were about 90, and the prison administration cut water and electricity for the prisoners.”
On September 6, six prisoners escaped from Gilboa Prison and were rearrested in two weeks. Following their escape, repressive measures have double, including intrusions, in an attempt to keep the prisoners in a state of instability and to impose more control and supervision on them.
The Israeli occupation authorities are currently detaining 4850 prisoners, including 41 female prisoners, 225 children and 550 administrative detainees, according to institutions specialised in Palestinian prisoner affairs.
