The health condition of the Palestinian striking prisoner Kayed Al-Fasfous, who has been on strike for 112 days, has reached a very critical stage which could lead to his death at any moment.
Al-Fasfous, who is bound to a bed in the Israeli “Barzilai” hospital, suffers from severe pain all over his body, heat in the eyes, severe fatigue, inability to move, and complete loss of senses of his feet.
Al-Fasfous still refuses to undergo any medical tests, unless it was carried out in a Palestinian hospital.
Six prisoners are still on open hunger strikes in the Prisons of the occupation protesting their administrative detention, the oldest of whom is Kayed Al-Fosfus.
Administrative detention is a decision of renewed detention without trial approved by the Israeli intelligence, in coordination with the military commander in the occupied West Bank, for a period of between one and six months, and is approved based on “secret security information” of the detainee.
The rest of the prisoners on strike are: Miqdad Al-Qawasmi, who has been on strike for 105 days, Alaa Al-Araj, 88 days, Hisham Abu Hawash 78 days, Ayyad Al-Harimi, 42 days, and Luay Al-Ashqar, 24 day.
The six prisoners suffer from very serious health deterioration, as yesterday, the occupation authorities transferred Ayyad Al-Harimi, from “Ofer” prison to the “Ramle Clinic”, due to the deterioration of his health. He been administratively detained since April 2021.
Previous reports stated that Al-Harimi suffers from lung infection, and tremors, headache, joint pain, sudden dizziness, and pain all over his body, and he cannot walk properly.
Al-Qawasmi also suffers from blood poisoning, and problems with the heart, lungs, kidneys and liver. Medical reports issued by the doctors in the hospital confirmed that he faces the possibility of sudden death, adding that the symptoms he has indicate a decline in the nervous system, which may cause serious damage to the brain.
Alaa Al-Araj, who has been on strike for 85 days, has not been able to stand on his feet at all for more than a month, and has lost 20 kilos of weight. He has difficulty speaking, and suffers from abdominal and chest pains, blurred vision, and severe pain in the kidney.
Hisham Abu Hawash, who has been on strike for 76 days, suffers serious health deterioration as he suffers from severe potassium deficiency, severe pain in the liver and heart, and cannot sleep due to severe aches all over his body. He uses a wheelchair and he constantly vomiting.
Louay Al-Ashqar has been in Megiddo prison, and has been detained since October 5, as the occupation authorities issued an administrative detention order against him for a period of six months. He spent about eight years between administrative detentions and sentences.
Al-Ashqar was subjected to a harsh military investigation during one of his arrests in 2005, which led to him being paralyzed in his left leg.
In addition to the seven prisoners; The prisoner, Ratib Hraibat, has been on hunger strike for 26 days, in solidarity with the striking prisoners protesting the administrative detention.
Israel holds about 4,850 prisoners in its prisons, including 41 female prisoners, 225 children, and 550 administrative detainees, according to institutions specialised in Palestinian prisoner affairs.
