Two civilians were killed and four others were wounded on Monday, November 15, in artillery shelling carried out by the Syrian regime forces in northern Syria.
Sources in the Syrian Civil Defence (White Helmets) confirmed the killing of a woman and a child and the injury of 4 civilians, in artillery shelling on the countryside of Aleppo, northern Syria.
“The bombing of the Syrian regime and armed groups affiliated with Iran “targeted residential neighbourhoods in the village of (Kafr Noran) in Aleppo countryside, which is within the de-escalation zone,” sources added.
Human rights reports had documented the killing of at least 843 civilians in attacks launched by the Syrian regime and Russian forces on the de-escalation zone, between April 26, to August 19, 2021.
In May 2017, Turkey, Russia and Iran announced that they had reached an agreement to establish a “de-escalation zone” in Idlib, as part of the Astana meetings on the Syrian issue, however, the Syrian regime forces and their supporters attack the area from time to time, despite the ceasefire agreement signed in March 5, 2020.
Syria’s civil war has been going on since March 18, 2011, as the regime of Bashar al-Assad cracked down on pro-democracy protests with unexpected ferocity.
Over the past years, the Syrian regime granted citizenship to a large number of members of groups affiliated with Iran, in exchange for their participation in the war it has waged against the opposition since 2011.
