Hisham Abu Hawash, Louay Al-Ashkar and Nidal Ballout suffer from difficult health conditions as the three Palestinian prisoners continue their hunger strike in Israeli prisons.
Hisham Abu Hawash, has been on strike for 103 days, and Luay Al-Ashqar, has been on strike for 48 days, both of whom are on strike protesting their administrative detention (without trial), and Nidal Mazen Ballout, who has been on strike for 30 days to protest the conditions of his detention and the conduct of his trial.
The occupation authorities arrested “Ballout” on October 29, and held him in Ashkelon Prison, and then transferred him to Ofer Prison. The occupation authorities accused him of a number of charges without providing any evidence. He was subjected to a daily interrogation that lasted 20 hours a day in his first week of detention, and interrogators threatened to transfer him to administrative detention.
Lawyers quoted the prisoner Nidal Ballout saying that the occupation soldiers severely beat him during his arrest and that he is still suffering pain as a result of the assault, as he was not allowed to receive treatment despite his repeated requests.
The prisoner, Hisham Abu Hawash, suffers from difficult health conditions, as the prison’s administration refuses to transfer him to the hospital for treatment, and it also refused to show him on the court screen which raises doubt about his deteriorating health conditions.
Abu Hawash,39, from Dura, southwest of Hebron, married and father of five children. He has been detained since October 2020, and he is a former prisoner who spent a total of 8 years in Israeli prisons.
Louay Al-Ashqar is also suffering from a difficult health condition, as he was recently transferred to Ramle Prison Hospital.
Al-Ashqar refuses to take medications and undergo medical examinations, and has lost approximately (27) kg of weight. He suffers from a constant feeling of dizziness, poor eyesight, and vomiting.
Al-Ashqar is from Sidon in Tulkarm, and he is in solitary confinement in “Jalameh” prison. He has been detained since October 5, 2021, and the occupation authorities issued an administrative detention order against him for a period of six months.
He had spent about eight years between administrative arrests and sentences and he was subjected to a harsh military investigation during one of his arrests in 2005, which led to him being paralyzed in his left leg.
