Two civilians were killed, and 10 others wounded, in an aerial bombardment by Russian warplanes on Nahr Al-Abyad village located in the Syrian “Idleb de-escalation zone”.
In the first minutes of the new year 2022, Russian warplanes carried out several air raids on areas in Idlib city and the village of Kansafra.
With ground-to-ground arms, the Syrian regime forces and armed groups backed by Iran bombed the villages of Kafr Amma, Kafr Ta’al, and Benin in the southern countryside of Idlib and the western countryside of Aleppo.
In May 2017, Turkey, Russia and Iran announced that they had reached an agreement to establish a “de-escalation zone” in Idlib, as part of the Astana meetings related to the Syrian issue, but the Syrian regime forces and their supporters attack the area from time to time, despite the ceasefire agreement signed on March 5, 2020.
A civil war has been taking place in Syria since March 18, 2011, when the Syrian regime launched a “ferocious” crackdown on protests condemning human rights violations in the country.
Over the past years, the Syrian regime granted citizenship to a large number of members of groups affiliated with Iran, in exchange for their participation in the war it has waged against the opposition since 2011.
