The Israeli occupation authorities continue to harass journalists with the aim of hampering their work in revealing the violations committed by the occupation against defenseless Palestinian people.
Meanwhile, the occupation authorities continue to detain 17 Palestinian journalists and media professionals in its prisons.
According to human rights groups, 7 detained journalists have been sentenced to prison while five journalists continue to be administratively detained without charge, and the other five are still awaiting verdicts.
On Friday, the occupation authorities continued to postpone pronouncing the verdict against the prisoner journalist Yazan Jaafar Abu Salah for the 22nd consecutive time after his arrest on January 19, 2020. Abu Salah, from Jenin in the occupied West Bank, has entered his third year of arbitrary detention in Israeli prisons.
The occupation court also postponed the trial of the journalist Youssef Fawadila, 31, who was arrested on December 29, 2020, from Ramallah, for the fourth time.
Until the end of December 2021, the number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees in the occupation prisons has reached 4,600, including about 500 administrative prisoners, 34 female prisoners and 160 minors.
