The Sudan Doctors Committee, SDC, confirmed the killing of three people and the injury of 169 others due to the security crackdown on protestors on Monday in Khartoum and Wad Madani city.
On Tuesday, the SDC confirmed in a statement that “Three civilians have lost their lives as a result of direct fire with live ammunition by the security forces during peaceful anti-coup protests,” pointing out that two people were killed in Khartoum, and the third was in Wad Madani, the capital of Gezira state.
“The number of injuries due to security forces’ targeting demonstrators has reached 169, including 32 with live bullets, two of whom are in a critical condition”, adding that the number of injuries in Khartoum reached 166, and three in Wad Madani.
Since last October, demonstrations have been sweeping the country calling for the restoration of a civilian rule. Since then, the Ministry of Health has not been issuing data on the numbers of victims due to security crackdown on demonstrators, however SDE has documented the Killing of 76 so far.
Since last October 25, Sudan has been experiencing a serious crisis, after the Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Army, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan declared a state of emergency, dissolved the Sovereignty Councils and the transitional ministers, dismissed the governors, arrested party leaders, ministers and officials, which resulted in protests erupting in rejection of these measures, describing it as a “military coup.”
