Last January, the Israeli occupation authorities arrested 214 Palestinians, demolished 34 Palestinian facilities, and issued 17 deportation orders from the occupied city of Jerusalem.
Palestinian information centres stressed that “the occupation municipality increased its decisions and demolitions in Jerusalem, as well as increasing campaigns of arrests and deportations of Palestinians over the past month.”
The Israeli authorities arrested 214, including one child under the age of 12, 41 minors, and four women, while arresting 70 Palestinians in Jerusalem over the last four days of January for throwing snow and stones at forces, police vehicles and settlers, as claimed.
Meanwhile, the occupation authorities renewed the administrative detention of three Palestinians including, Representative in the Palestinian Legislative Council Mohamed Abu Tair for the second time, Amin Showeiki for the third time, and Majed Al-Jaaba for the second time.
Furthermore, the Israeli authorities re-arrested four Palestinians in Jerusalem, the minute they left prison, and referred them to investigation.
The occupation authorities issued 17 decisions of expulsion, including eight from Al-Aqsa Mosque, five from the Old City, three from Jerusalem, and one entry prevention to the West Bank.
Over the past month, 34 facilities were demolished, including 17 self-demolition to avoid paying fines.
According to official Palestinian sources, the Israeli occupation intensified its settlement activities by increasing the demolition of Palestinian homes, thus affecting 317 homes in different parts of Jerusalem in 2021, claiming it was “unlicensed construction.”
It is worth noting that the Israeli municipality of Jerusalem hardly issues building permits to Palestinians and prevents construction or land reclamation in the areas under its control in the occupied West Bank, including the suburbs of Jerusalem.
