Today, Monday 14 March, Israeli special forces kidnapped a Palestinian lawyer from his home in the village of Bayt Rima, northwest of Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank.
Israeli forces entered the Bayt Rima in civilian vehicles and stormed the house of Bara’ Judat al-Rimawi, 28 years old, causing significant damage to the property.
At the same moment, Israeli occupation forces arrested 16 other Palestinian citizens across the West Bank, including nine in the Hebron governorate.
In Hebron, two recently released Palestinians, 40 years-old Tariq Anwar Daeis and 35 years-old Bashir Khaled Abdel Hafeez al-Rajbi, were arrested. Other arrestees are Ismail Amr, Amer al-Qawasmi, Awda Mahmoud al-Haroub, Ayman Ahmed Abdullah Abu Awad, Atef Ali Hassan Rabaa, Yahya Issa Saleh al-Amour, and Munther Odeh al-Muhaina.
In the Tulkarm governorate, Israeli occupation forces arrested Muhannad Munir Melhem and Muhammad Tariq Melhem, both in Bala‘a town, in the east of the governorate.
In Tubas, Anan Jihad Abu Mutawa, 38 years-old, was arrested.
In Bethlehem, Israeli forces arrested three citizens this morning: the recently released Ahmed Qassem al-Sheikh, and Khalil Qassem al-Sheikh, both from the village of Marah Rabah. Palestinian citizen Abbas Muhammad Shehadeh was arrested in Bethlehem town.
Israeli occupation forces typically make arrests during night raids, which it conducts across the occupied territories.
According to Palestinian human-rights organisations, up until January 2022, the number of Palestinian detainees in occupation prisons stood at approximately 4,500, including 34 women, 180 children, and 500 administrative detainees.
