The Israeli prison authorities moved the Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawdeh, who has been on hunger strike for the 100th consecutive day, from the Ramle prison clinic to a civilian hospital.
Over the past period, the prison administration refused his transfer to the hospital despite his difficult health situation.
Last Tuesday, Awawdeh was taken to the Ramle prison infirmary, although the Israeli supreme court had ordered his immediate transfer to a hospital due to his critical health condition.
Awawdeh, a father of four, was arrested more than once, most recently was in 2021 where he was held in administrative detention without charge or trial.
Awawdeh suffers many health jails including persistent headache, joint pains, emaciation, extreme fatigue, irregular heartbeats and breathing, and frequent vomiting of blood.
Administrative detention is incarceration without trial or charge, alleging that a person plans to commit a future offense. It has no time limit, and the evidence on which it is based is not disclosed.
As of May 2022, 4600 Palestinian prisoners are still held in Israeli jails including 31 female prisoners, 172 children, 682 administrative detainees, and 500 sick prisoners.
