Today, July 9, 2022 at dawn, the Israeli Occupation Forces arrested Al-Quds Press agency correspondent, the Palestinian journalist Amer Abu Arafa, after raiding his house in Hebron, in the south of the occupied West Bank.
Abu Arafa’s wife, Safaa Horoub, said: “The occupation soldiers raided our house and damaged its contents, and interrogated my husband before arresting him.”
Abu Arafa, 39, is married and is a father of three. He works as a reporter for Al-Quds Press in the southern West Bank area, in addition to his work as a reporter for other news websites.
Abu Arafa was arrested several times before, with a total of six years imprisonment at the Israeli prisons. The first time was in 2003, where he spent 4 years, and the second time was in 2011, where he spent two years in administrative detention.
Abu Arafa was arrested more than 10 times by the Palestinian security services, mostly by the Preventive Security Service in Hebron, the last of which was in September last year.
Human rights groups have documented the commission of 44 violations against media freedoms in the occupied Palestinian territories last June, including the killing of the journalist Ghofran and Rasna.
