Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) said that the decision of the Israeli occupation to withdraw licences of Palestinian schools in occupied Jerusalem is a systematic practice to erase the history and heritage of the Palestinian people and obliterate their identity.
The Occupation’s Ministry of Education published a statement on Thursday evening, July 28, 2022, to withdraw the licences of 6 Palestinian schools in occupied Jerusalem and issue a temporary licence for one year, to be renewed based on amending the school’s curricula, considered by the occupation to be “inciting against the occupation government and the IOF soldiers.”
AOHR UK pointed out that the “inciting” contents are historical information on Palestine, the occupation, the Nakba and the massacres carried out against Palestinians over decades.
This decision aims at falsifying the Palestinian history and obliterating clear facts on the Israeli violation of the civil and political rights of the Palestinian people stipulated in international conventions, which is being allowed by the unconditional support of the international powers and the Arab regimes that normalised with the occupation to legitimatise it.
The inability of the international community to take serious measures to end the crimes of the occupation strongly affects Palestinian rights, particularly the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
