Human rights organisations documented 227 cases of arbitrary detention which took place in Syria during July, including 16 children and 9 women.

The Syrian regime has arbitrarily arrested 93, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested 87, including 9 children and 3 women, while 47 people were arrested by other parties.
187 of those arrested are currently under enforced disappearance.
Hundreds of thousands of detainees continued to be detained in Syria without an arrest warrant or charges for many years. They have been denied the right to hire a lawyer and receive family visits. 68%, which is about 102,000 of the total detainees, have been subjected to enforced disappeared, 85% of whom are held by the Syrian regime.

It is worth noting that the Syrian regime granted citizenship to several groups affiliated with Iran, for their participation in the war it has waged against the opposition since 2011.
Millions of displaced people, who had to flee the regime’s bombing of their villages, towns and cities, are currently living in camps in north and northwest Syria.
