Violations of the Israeli occupation authorities against Palestinian schools continue as they storm it, arrest teachers and students, or demolish schools.
Meanwhile the occupation has decided to demolish “Ein Samya” school, east of the city of Ramallah in the West Bank; however, the European Union representative in Palestine, Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff, described the decision as “illegal.”
During his visit with other representatives and ambassadors of the European Union countries to Palestine, to the school with the demolition order, he said that Israel’s decision to demolish the school is against the international humanitarian law.
Burgsdorff pointed out that the school was built with the funding of the European Union, in order to serve students and educate them, calling for an immediate halt to the demolition decision.
He stressed that the demolition of the school means that the students would walk about 9 kilometers in order to reach the nearest school, and to go via a road surrounded by Israeli settlements, which threatens their lives.
Burgsdorff confirmed that the ambassadors and representatives will convey to the capitals of their countries the suffering of the residents in Ain Samya, as well as in the Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron, which is also threatened with demolition. He added, “we must support them and not allow these demolitions”.
On Wednesday, the “Israeli District Court” in Jerusalem issued a decision to the “immediate demolition” of the Ein Samya School, northeast of Ramallah.
It is noteworthy that the school serves about 300 students of Ain Samia El-Badawi community, which is located in area (C).
Area C is more than 60 percent of the West Bank, and falls under full Israeli civil and security control, according to the Oslo Agreement between the occupation and the Palestinian Authority.
