The human rights situation has increasingly deteriorated in Saudi Arabia after Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) took power.
Since then, violent repression campaigns have targeted Saudi intellectuals, scholars, activists or foreigners residing in the Kingdom, simply for expressing their opinions. Some of them were subjected to harsh prison sentences for tweeting.
Shortly after journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s murder, the Saudi authorities vowed to introduce reform programmes to absorb the global condemnation. Although these reforms had never been applied, international criticism gradually subsided where economic interests were prioritised over human rights.
In this regard, Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) invites you to participate in a webinar addressing arbitrary detention in Saudi Arabia and possible ways to stop the suffering of hundreds of political detainees in Saudi jails.
