A Palestinian teenager, Karim Ali Salman, 18-years-old, from the town of Qusin, west of the city of Nablus, was shot and killed by a settler near the Kedumim settlement.
Israeli occupation forces’ and settlers’ shooting and killing of Palestinians has become a near-daily occurrence in the occupied territories, with a lack of international condemnation giving effective immunity to perpetrators.
The settlement itself is established on Palestinian lands.
Salman was killed by a settler working as a security guard in the settlement. The authorities did not announce his killing until several hours after the incident.
The Palestinian territories are currently suffering an escalation of violence, including the killing last Thursday of nine Palestinians by Israeli occupation forces in the Jenin refugee camp.
With Karim’s death, the number of Palestinians killed by occupation forces since the start of the year rises to 33.
224 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in 2022.
International humanitarian law prohibits the targeting of civilians and emphasizes the need for states and other actors to respect their physical and mental integrity.
