The Israeli occupation forces continue the siege on the city of Jericho and its villages, and the town of Hawara, south of Nablus, northern West Bank, for the third day in a row.
In Jericho, the occupation forces prevent the Palestinian citizens from entering and exit to the city. It also forces them to stand and wait for long hours at the military checkpoints at the main entrances to the city and closes the secondary roads leading to it.
The occupation forces set up their military checkpoints in several areas, including east of the city near the Karama crossing, the southern entrance near Aqabat Jabr camp, in addition to two other checkpoints north of the city near the Military Training Authority, Al-Maarajat Road, and other secondary checkpoints around the city and its villages.
Moreover, the occupation forces continue to impede the departure of citizens travelling through the Al-Karama crossing and confiscate their vehicles for long hours.
In Hawara, the Israeli occupation forces continue their siege for the third day in a row, turning it into a closed military zone.
The occupation forces turned its main street into a closed military zone and forced the owners of shops to close them.
Dozens of settlers attacked the towns of Hawara and Zatara last Sunday evening, and assaulted the citizens and their property, which led to the death of the Palestinian citizen, Sameh Aqtash, from Zatara, and the injury of hundreds, and the burning of dozens of homes, vehicles, and building facades.
The Mayor of Hawara, Moin Al-Damidi, estimated the losses resulting from the settler attacks at 18 million shekels (the shekel is equivalent to 0.28 US dollars).
Al-Damaidi said in media statements: “citizens encountered other losses estimated at hundreds of thousands of shekels, as a result of the continued closure of their shops.”
The mayor also said that the schools in the town are still closed for the third consecutive day, and the occupation forces prevented the town’s residents from roaming the main street.
