On Wednesday evening, March 22, 2023, Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons have ended their hunger strike after abusive measure against them stopped.
Since February 14, the prisoners began taking disobedience steps following the announcement of implementing the “Ben Gvir” procedures, and the approval of racist draft laws, most notably the draft law for the execution of prisoners.
As part of their disobedience, 2000 prisoners decided to go on a hunger strike on the first day of Ramadan.
The abusive measures recommended by Ben Gvir include controlling the amount of water used by prisoners, and reducing the duration of showers so that prisoners are allowed to shower at a specific hour. Locks have also been placed on shower bathrooms in the new sections of Nafha prison.
It also includes feeding prisoners bad or frozen bread. The administration has also doubled the raids and searches in male and female prisoners, and used sound bombs and sniffer dogs during the raids.
The disobedience also came in protest against the preliminary approval of a draft law depriving prisoners of medical treatment and surgeries. In addition to the approval of the ministerial-legislative committee in the occupation government of a draft law on the execution of prisoners who carried out operations against the occupation.
Prisoners rejected doubling the solitary confinement of prisoners, and withdrawing televisions from detainees in “the crossing”section, in addition to increasing the transfer of the movement’s leaders, and life prisoners in particular. Some central prisons have threatened to close public facilities on Friday and Saturday, as happened in the Negev prison.
It should be noted that the number of Palestinian prisoners in the occupation prisons is about 4,780, including 29 female prisoners and 160 children.
