Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) strongly denounced the killing of the Palestinian toddler, Mohamed Haitham Al-Tamimi, on Monday morning, June 5, 2023, at the hands of the IOF. The organisation emphasised that such horrific crime reflects the brutality of the Israeli occupation and their lack of respect to the right to life of Palestinians, regardless of their age.
The aggressive and inhumane violations of the occupation require the international community to have a firm stance, as their shameful silence encourages the reoccurrence of such heinous crimes.
Two-year-old Mohamed Al-Tamimi died of a bullet injury in his head last Thursday during an Israeli military raid into the village. He was standing with his father outside their house near the military checkpoint in Nabi Saleh Village, before he was deliberately shot in his head, only to die a few days later.
Since the start of 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have killed more than 140 Palestinians, including 28 children.
The death toll also includes 36 Palestinians killed by the Israeli army during the four-day aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip from May 9 to 13.
The killing of a toddler is part of a systematic violation policy of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians. International humanitarian law prohibits targeting civilians and subjecting them to attack in war zones, whether in groups or individuals, especially women and children.
AOHR UK calls on the international community to take the necessary measures to end the brutality and inhumanity of the occupation, bring those accountable to Justice, and ensure protection for the Palestinians at all levels.
