Today, Tuesday, June 08, 2023, the IOF demolished two houses in Ramallah and Jerusalem.
The house in Ramalla, belonging to Ghazi Sheriteh was demolished without a notice or demolition order.
The house was built more than 20 years ago and became under the control of settlers two months ago. Owners of the house were forced to evacuate it 10 years ago, after being attacked by the IOF and settlers.
The other demolished house and horse barracks belonged to Toutah family in occupied Jerusalem. They were demolished under the pretext of not having a building permit.
Residents in Jerusalem face great difficulties in obtaining building permits, which cost tens of thousands of dollars for each flat or commercial store.
In 2022, the occupation authorities granted licences to build 12934 settlement units in the West Bank, including the city of Jerusalem, while demolishing 318 homes and 583 Palestinian facilities.
The demolitions policy is flagrant violation of international law and the human right to housing, a basic rights, with which the right to stability and safety should be guaranteed.
