Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) called on countries supporting the right to life and self-determination of Palestinians to sue the occupying state under the 1948 Genocide Convention at the International Court of Justice.
The Israeli occupation and Palestine are state parties to the Convention, which is being breached on a daily basis by the occupation and settlers who are systematically violating all the terms of Al the convention.
The terms of the Genocide Prevention Convention are clear. They are being breached by the occupying state by making the lives of the Palestinians impossible, as they surround villages and cities with settlements, and systematically cause harm to the Palestinians at the physical and psychological levels.
Documentations have proven the daily use of lethal force by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) against the Palestinians, the killing of children and women, and assassinating Palestinian citizens without any kind of accountability.
Governorates of the West Bank turn into battlefields as settlers launch their attacks on villages and towns by targeting people and their properties with burning, vandalising and shooting at them under the protection of the IOF and at the direct instigation of ministers in Netanyahu’s extremist government.
People of the West Bank lived a “night of terror” on Tuesday evening, June 20, until the early hours of Wednesday morning, June 21, 2023. They were subjected to repeated attacks organised by hundreds of settlers against 10 Palestinian villages and towns south of Nablus along the road connecting Ramallah and Nablus.
The villages include: Beitin, Turmusaya, Zaatara, Hawara, Al-Luban Al-Sharqiya, Al-Luban Al-Gharbia, Al-Sawiya, Yasouf, Douma, and Deir Sharaf.
The death toll of these attacks has not been yet finalised, however, at least 34 Palestinians, including children, have been injured with medium to serious injuries, 174 vehicles and 27 homes were subjected to attacks and burning.
According to eyewitnesses, the settlers would have caused a real catastrophe had it not been for the Palestinians’ response and preventing them from setting fire to a gas station on the outskirts of the eastern village of Al-Laban in Nablus.
They added that the attacks of armed settler gangs took place from zero distance and with the help and protection of the IOF which watched them burn the towns and shoot randomly at the unarmed Palestinian citizens.
The Palestinian people need urgent protection against these systematic crimes and a serious will to implement the resolutions of dismantling the occupation settlements and ending the occupation.
Condemnations of these crime without real actions are meaningless, especially as the Palestinian people are being left alone to be killed on a daily basis.
Furthermore, the Palestinian Authority’s security services with 75,000 forces, watched silently without intervening to prevent settler attacks or protect civilians. What is the use of these agencies if they do not intervene and take action in these dangerous circumstances. When would they intervene then?
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the relevant ministries are not working enough to prosecute the Israeli occupation for its crimes.
Since Karim Khan became the Public Prosecutor, these ministries have not pressured him to take serious measures to hold the leaders of the occupation accountable.
AOHR UK condemns the silence of the Public Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, who did not investigate any of the files presented to him, nor did he comment on the crimes that are being committed every day.
