The Egyptian security forces arrested Ola Mustafa who raised a banner in front of the Suez Governorate building protesting against the sale of gas to the Israeli occupation, while Egyptians suffer from power outage.
The banner read “Egypt is enlightened by its people… and Israel is enlightened by our gas.” The girl stayed for some time until the security forces came and arrested her, and her fate remains unknown.
The arrest of Ola and thousands like her have been ongoing since the coup of 2013, after which Abdelfattah Al-Sisi assumed power in Egypt and suppressed the right to freedom of expression.
Egyptian prisons are currently filled with activists, journalists and political dissidents who dared expressed their opinion or expose the violations of the state.
