For the 61st consecutive day, the Israeli occupation’s massive carnage continues to claim more lives in the Gaza Strip as its army persists in bombing homes and buildings and targeting civilians.
The death toll from Israeli bombardments in the Gaza Strip has risen to over 16,248 victims, including 7,112 children and 4,885 women, the Government Media Office (GMO) revealed.
43,616 people have also been injured since the start of the Israeli aggression.
According to Palestinian estimates, 286 health personnel, 32 civil defence members, and 81 journalists were killed in the Israeli attacks.
The GMO affirmed that 7,600 people are still missing, either under rubble or because their fate is still unknown.
The media office pointed out that 100 mosques were completely demolished, while 192 mosques and three churches were partially destroyed. 121 government buildings were also destroyed.
The GMO also indicated that 69 schools became out of service, while 275 schools were partially damaged.
Meanwhile, 52,000 housing units were completely destroyed in the Gaza Strip, while 253,000 others were partially destroyed.
The GMO stated that the Israeli warplanes dropped more than 50,000 tons of explosives on civilian homes, hospitals, schools, and civilian institutions during the ongoing aggression
The Israeli non-stop attack forced 1.5 million people in the Gaza Strip to evacuate amid extremely difficult living conditions and an acute shortage of food, water, and medical supplies.
The media office demanded “the entry of 1,000 trucks of real aid supplies, and one million litres of fuel on a daily basis, in order to save lives in the Gaza Strip.”
The media office also called on “the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League, and all the free world to immediately intervene as 305,000 families have lost their housing units during the ongoing Israeli aggression.”
It also demanded “the immediate and urgent entry of hundreds of equipment and mechanisms for relief, emergency, civil defence crews, so that they can pull out the bodies of hundreds of victims that are still under the rubble.”
The Israeli army resumed bombing the Gaza Strip earlier Friday after declaring an end to a week-long humanitarian truce.
The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian and human rights law as it exposes civilians’ lives to extreme danger, which requires immediate international intervention.
The international community must force the Israeli occupation forces to abide by international human rights and humanitarian laws, mainly protecting the rights and lives of civilians, prohibiting their targeting and preserving their safety, and holding the Israeli leaders accountable for committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip.
