In conjunction with its ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip for the 67th consecutive day, the Israeli occupation forces continue their violations in cities and villages of the West Bank. This has resulted in casualties and injuries among Palestinian civilians.
Four Palestinian young men were killed, one other was severely wounded, and two journalists were wounded in the Israeli aggression Tuesday on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp. Six citizens were also detained amid massive infrastructure damage.
The four victims have been identified as Rafeeq Al Dabbous, Mahmoud Abu Srour, Baker Zakarneh, and Thaer Abu Al-Teen. They were killed in an Israeli drone strike that targeted them directly in Al-Sibat neighbourhood in Jenin.
Israeli drones dropped poisonous smoke bombs at the courtyard of Jenin Public Hospital and prevented paramedics from transferring Abu Al-Teen to the hospital, pushing them to take him to a health centre in Qabatya.
Earlier Tuesday, Israeli occupation forces besieged Ibn Sina, Jenin, and Al-Razi Hospitals and prevented ambulances from operating to reach victims.
In the same vein, Zakarneh’s father had a heart attack as soon as he was informed that his son was killed, especially that his other son, Sidqi, was also killed by the Israeli forces earlier on December 8, 2022.
In the same regard, the Education Directorate of Jenin declared that education in Jenin city, Jenin refugee camp, and in any area where occupation forces are present, will be conducted online.
The Israeli occupation forces detained six Palestinians from Jenin city and refugee camp, including a woman. The detainees were identified as Jalal Al-Sous, Baha’a and Dia’ Abu Zeid, Majd Arabawi, Yaseen Sobhi Hannoun, Alaa Misbeh Abul Heja, and Muhannad Abul Heja.
Jenin City and refugee camp both saw massive infrastructure destruction. Israeli occupation forces destroyed Kamal Abu Wa’er Square in Al Jabriyyat neighbourhood in Jenin, Al-Shaheed Square in Al-Basateen neighbourhood, and Al Shuhada Square in Al Marah neighbourhood in Jenin. They also bombed a house and a shop in Jenin refugee camp and destroyed generators as well as several memorials in the city and the refugee camp.
Two journalists were wounded while covering the events in Jenin. They were identified as Raneen Sawaftah, a Reuters photojournalist, who had been suffocated, and Amr Manasrah, who was hit in the back with a tear gas bomb. Israeli occupation forces continue to prevent paramedics from reaching the attacked areas.
Israeli occupation forces also held an ambulance, which was carrying a woman in labour, for nearly an hour in front of Jenin Hospital.
Several areas across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have been seeing daily raids by the Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by confrontations, arrests, and use of gunshots and tear gas, while settlers’ attacks continue simultaneously.
The occupation’s aggression in the West Bank comes while the war on Gaza is entering its 67th day, which in turn has left 18205 victims and 49645 injuries, as well as large numbers of victims, who remain under the rubble of houses bombarded by the occupation’s warplanes.
The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank is considered a blatant violation of international and humanitarian law and human rights as it puts the lives and properties of civilians in extreme danger and causes them great suffering.
The brutal aggression by the Israeli occupation necessitates bringing those responsible to justice. The unjustified killing of civilians and healthcare workers constitutes a war crime, subjecting perpetrators to accountability and trial before the International Criminal Court.
