Despite being internationally prohibited, the Israeli occupation continues its policy of displacement, Judaisation, and expansion of the settlements in the West Bank.
On Tuesday, January 23, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) demolished two houses. The first demolished house was in Lasifar village, in Musafer Yatta, south of Hebron, which belongs to Mahmoud Khalil Abu Qubaita and his family, with an area of 120 square metres.
Abu Qubaita’s house houses 10 people, and its owner has all the legal ownership documents.
The second house demolished was in Khirbet Khallet Al-Farn, in the village of Birin, east of Hebron.
The IOF and the settlers of Khavat Talya, established on Palestinian citizens’ lands, are seeking to force the citizens to leave, to expand their settlement in the south of Hebron.
The IOF raided the area and demolished a house of 140 square meters owned by Bilal Nasr Hussein Ghaith, who lives there with his family.
The occupation’s attacks in Birin aim to displace the population and expand the so-called “Bnei Hefer” settlement, established on the lands of Palestinian citizens near the village, despite having the legal ownership documents.
The demolition, displacement and establishment of settlement operations by the Israeli occupation constitute a blatant violation of international law and the human right to housing, which is one of the basic human rights, and includes the right to stability and access to safe and appropriate housing, without discrimination or forced displacement.
