The International Community Must Shoulder its Responsibilities for these Crimes
Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) stressed that the killing of the Jerusalemite citizen, Ahmed Mustafa Erekat, 27, from the town of Abu Dis, at an Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) checkpoint should not go without accountability.
Eyewitnesses documented the killing at the “Container” checkpoint in East Jerusalem, where IOF soldiers shot Erekat for no reason inside his car then left him in the street bleeding to death.
AOHR UK stated that Erekat was on his way to take his relatives to his sister’s wedding when he stopped at the checkpoint where the IOF soldiers opened fire on him.
AOHR UK stressed that this crime is not the first of its kind. The IOF soldiers had opened fire on women and children to kill them and claim falsely that the victims attacked the soldiers.
AOHR UK called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities for the systematic killings of Palestinians at the hands of the IOF soldiers at checkpoints which became known as “death traps.”
