Within 3 days, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) displaced 80,000 Palestinians from Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, according to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The UN Organisation stated that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are facing another forced displacement during the Israeli war on Gaza, which continues for the seventh month.
It highlighted that since the intensification of the military operations of the IOF on May 6, about 80,000 people have fled Rafah, seeking refuge in other places, adding that the losses suffered by these families are countless. They have no safe place, and an immediate ceasefire must take place.
UNRWA Communications Officer Louise Waterridge, currently in Rafah, monitored the daily forced displacement of families from Rafah, emphasising that there was a massive bombing of Rafah during the night, that continues throughout this morning.
Since last October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, which claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people and injured others, caused the displacement of more than a million Palestinians in the Strip, and left catastrophic humanitarian and health conditions, due to the continuous bombing and the prevention of supplies of food, water, medicines and electricity.
The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights, as it exposes the lives and property of civilians to extreme danger, and causes them great suffering. The international community must take a serious stance to stop the aggression on Gaza and protect civilians in the Gaza Strip.
