On Thursday, May 16, 2024, the right-wing Israeli extremist Movement Tzav 9 (Order 9) reiterated its continued ban on the entry of any humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, despite local and international criticism.
The movement shared a statement on X confirming its continued activities until the return of all Israeli prisoners in Gaza to their homes, adding that they they will be back next week to prevent aid trucks from entering the Gaza Strip.
The movement has been organising protests for months to prevent the entry of any humanitarian aid into Gaza, the most violent of which was in the past few days, when trucks were prevented from passing, aid was destroyed, and drivers were attacked, under the protection of the occupation police.
Tzav 9 movement was established with the beginning of the war on Gaza, on October 7th, 2023, by the couple Reut and Youssef Ben Haim, who are settlers in the occupied West Bank.
According to a previous report by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, the movement includes 5,000 members.
As a result of the war and restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation, the population of Gaza, especially the Gaza and North governorates, are on the brick of a famine due to severe scarcity of food, water, medicine and fuel supplies, in addition to the displacement of about two million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip which has been besieged by the occupation for 17 years.
The attack on aid trucks and preventing its entry to the Gaza Strip is a clear violation of the right to food guaranteed under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which requires the international community and humanitarian institutions to urgently deliver the necessary food to the people of Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, which has left tens of thousands dead and wounded, and catastrophic humanitarian and health conditions due to the continuous bombing and the prevention of supplies of food, water, medicine, and electricity.
