Malnutrition has doubled among children in the Gaza Strip, which is facing a barbaric war by the Israeli occupation, leading to the death of dozens of them.
On Saturday, June 1, 2024, the Palestinian child, Abdul Qader Al-Sarhi, 13, died in Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, due to starvation, which is a policy practised by the occupation.
Medical sources confirmed that the death toll from malnutrition and dehydration in the Gaza Strip had risen to 37, pointing out that the announced death toll reflects only the cases that reach hospitals, while other dozens are dying silently as a result of famine, without being able to reach hospitals.
Medical sources announced that the health situation in the Gaza Strip went from bad to worse, with the expansion of the Israeli aggression on the city of Rafah towards the west, and all its hospitals being out of service.
The occupation has continued to close the Rafah crossing for 26 days, amid warnings of a worsening humanitarian situation, due to the lack of flow of life-saving supplies to citizens in various parts, especially in the areas of the northern Gaza Strip, which face the threat of real famine.
As a result of the war and the restrictions of the Israeli occupation, the residents of Gaza are on facing a famine, in light of a severe scarcity of food, water, medicine and fuel supplies, and the displacement of about two million Palestinians from the Strip, which has been besieged by the occupation for 17 years.
It should be noted that the right to food is guaranteed under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which requires the international community and humanitarian institutions to provide the necessary food aid to the people of Gaza.
Since last October 7; The Israeli occupation forces have been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, which has left tens of thousands dead and wounded, enormous humanitarian conditions, and a major health and environmental catastrophe, as a result of the destruction of vital facilities and the overflow of sewage in large areas.
Since the beginning of the war, the occupation cut off all supplies of electricity, water, fuel and food to the residents of the Gaza Strip, bombed bakeries, factories, stores, water stations and tanks, and destroyed the infrastructure.
