The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) arrest campaigns in the West Bank continue, while the ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip continues for the 258th day in a row.
The number of arrests of Palestinian civilians in the occupied West Bank since October 7, 2023 has risen to about 9,300 detainees.
Since Friday evening until Saturday morning, the IOF launched a massive campaign of raids, searches, and arrests in various areas of the West Bank, of at least 20 Palestinians, including a woman from Jenin, a child and former prisoners, who were subjected to abuse, severe beatings, and threats for the detainees and their families. IOF also caused widespread sabotage and destruction of citizens’ homes and infrastructure.
The statistics of detainees include those who were arrested from homes, military checkpoints, surrenders under pressures, hostage, detainees of the IOF, and those later released.
The pace of raids and arrests in the cities of the occupied West Bank has increased, coinciding with the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, which has left tens of thousands killed and wounded.
These arbitrary arrests represent a flagrant violation of the basic rights of individuals, including the right to freedom and personal security, and the right not to be subjected to torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. It also violates the right to personal freedom and the right to a fair trial, as detainees are held without legal evidence or valid judicial warrants.
These violations require the international community and human rights organisations to put pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities, to ensure respect for human rights, and to put an end to these oppressive practices.
