As part of the Israeli escalation in Lebanon, Israeli occupation forces killed photojournalist Kamel Karaki on Wednesday.
This is the third day of what has been described as the “most violent, extensive, and intense” Israeli aggression on Lebanon since the start of the confrontations with “Hezbollah” almost a year ago.
In a statement released by the National News Agency, the Syndicate of Lebanese Press Editors denounced “the continuation of Israeli attacks against civilians in all Lebanese territories, and the expansion of its massacres of a genocidal nature, reaping more innocents.”
The statement read, “Journalists and photographers were not spared from these massacres, with the latest being the martyrdom of photographer Kamel Karaki,” who was murdered in his hometown of Qantara by Israeli shelling.
The number of journalists killed since the start of the massive aggression on Lebanon is now two, following the death of journalist Hadi al-Sayyed yesterday in an Israeli air raid on his home in southern Lebanon.
Since Monday morning, the Israeli occupation army has been carrying out the “most violent and extensive” attack on Lebanon since the start of the hostilities with Hezbollah approximately a year ago. The Lebanese Ministry of Health reports that there have been 572 fatalities—including 50 children and 94 women—as well as approximately 1,848 wounded and approximately 390,000 displaced.
Hezbollah and Palestinian factions in Lebanon are calling for an end to the extermination war that the Israeli occupation, backed by the United States, has been waging on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. In the midst of widespread destruction and a deadly famine, this war has left over 137,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, the majority of them women and children, and over 10,000 reported missing.
