The intense Israeli aggression is making the humanitarian situation in Lebanon worse, putting thousands of civilians’ lives in danger and making their suffering worse.
In this regard, the United Nations stated that 1.4 million people in Lebanon had to leave their homes as a result of the intensification of Israeli attacks, pointing to a serious decline in food security and a severe lack of resources for humanitarian aid in the face of an immediate need for aid.
“The humanitarian situation in Lebanon is deteriorating further with the continuation of attacks that have killed more than 3,100 people so far, and displaced 1.4 million people from their homes,” the United Nations Office in Geneva wrote in a post on the “X” platform.
On Thursday, the Israeli warplanes launched several air raids on Al-Bazourieh town in southern Lebanon, killing three citizens and wounding others.
Numerous locations were also targeted, such as the town of Al-Jumaijmeh, where more residents lost their lives as a result of the attacks.
Israeli raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut’s capital continued, with heavy shelling in the neighborhoods of Haret Hreik, Ghobeiry, Choueifat, Burj al-Barajneh, Chiyah, and Mar Mikhael resulting in extensive damage to infrastructure, buildings, and facilities.
The Israeli warplanes and artillery also targeted several towns in southern Lebanon, including Nabatieh, Majdal Zoun, Naqoura, Shamaa, and Mansouri, resulting in widespread damage to civilian facilities and increasing fears of a worsening humanitarian situation.
Large numbers of Lebanese have been displaced as a result of the ongoing aggression, which has escalated since September 23 and is the most violent since the start of the clashes with “Hezbollah” a year ago.
More than 137,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and wounded in the Israeli occupation’s war of extermination in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, with American assistance. Since then, more than 10,000 Palestinians have gone missing.
Since the direct targeting of civilians and their property is a crime that calls for accountability for its perpetrators in a way that ensures human rights and justice for the impacted peoples, thorough and open investigations are necessary to hold those responsible for these grave violations accountable in light of the worsening conditions in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
