The Israeli occupation continues its relentless onslaught against civilians in the Gaza Strip, in a campaign approaching one full year. With each passing day, the toll of destruction and human suffering deepens, marked by devastating airstrikes and artillery assaults, with most of the victims being women and children.
As of Wednesday morning, at least 54 civilians have been killed, including 36 in Gaza City alone, in just the latest wave of aerial and ground bombardments.
According to medical sources, one of the bloodiest massacres occurred near Firas Market, where Israeli occupation forces bombed Gaza Municipality warehouses sheltering displaced families. The attack killed 22 people, including 9 children and 6 women, and left dozens more wounded.
In al-Sabra, south of Gaza City, 5 members of the Al-Hams family were killed when their home was targeted.
In Nuseirat refugee camp, central Gaza, airstrikes destroyed homes, killing 4 from the Khattab family and a woman from the Nassar family.
In Al-Sahaba Street, Gaza City, two women from the Al-Maghribi family died in a direct strike on their apartment.
Two displaced civilians were also killed by drone fire on a truck in Tel al-Hawa, and another died on Omar Al-Mukhtar Street.
In Rafah, southern Gaza, Israeli occupation soldiers opened fire on civilians waiting for humanitarian aid in Al-Shakoush, northwest of the city. The attack left 11 dead, including footballer Mohammed Al-Satari of Shabab Rafah Club.
Meanwhile, heavy artillery shelling continues to hit eastern, southern, and northwestern Gaza City, accompanied by intensive drone surveillance. No safe corridors exist for civilians, worsening the already dire human toll.
Since 7 October 2023, the death toll in Gaza has exceeded 65,344 civilians, with more than 166,795 wounded, according to the Ministry of Health. These figures are expected to rise, as thousands remain trapped under rubble or in inaccessible areas due to constant bombardment and siege.
The repeated targeting of shelters, hospitals, aid distribution points, and civilian gatherings paints a clear picture: this is not random warfare but a deliberate assault on human existence in Gaza.
Such widespread and systematic attacks on civilians, combined with imposed life-threatening conditions, fit the legal definition of genocide under international law. Gaza has become the stage for one of the most egregious violations of human rights in recent history, unchecked, unpunished, and unfolding in full view of the world.
