Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) called on the countries whose nationals are participating in Al-Soumoud Convoy heading to Gaza to provide protection for the Convoy in light of the escalation of the occupation’s attacks on it in international waters.
AOHR UK stated that from the very first moment Al-Soumoud Convoy moved, it was subjected to attacks by drones at different stops, most notably Tunisia, in an attempt by the occupation to terrorise the activists and dissuade them from completing their mission to reach the Gaza Strip, which is suffering from an ongoing blockade and genocide.
AOHR UK added that last night the occupation intensified its attacks on the convoy ships in international waters using drones which fired sound bombs and burning substances with odour, causing damage to some of the ships, which proves that the occupation is determined to prevent the ships from continuing their sailing towards Gaza.
AOHR UK expressed its fear that the occupation would persist in using other means that would lead to the sinking of the ships. It noted that there is nothing to deter the occupation, which believes it has power and is backed by the United States that provides it with military and political support in the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip and its aggression against Arab capitals.
AOHR UK deplored the stance of the countries to which the activists belong such as Britain, Australia, New Zealand, France, Ireland, Austria, Finland, Denmark and others, as these countries have not taken any action and have not done enough to warn the occupation government against harming the participants Al-Soumoud Convoy.
AOHR UK affirmed that any aggression against the Convoy constitutes an aggression against the countries whose flags the ships fly and to which the activists belong; therefore it is the duty of these countries to act urgently to provide protection for the participants in the fleet until they reach their destination.
AOHR UK stressed that the continued silence over the crimes of the occupation and the failure to take any measures to deter it has emboldened it to act with impunity to commit any kind of crimes anywhere in the world without facing any consequences or accountability.
