On Monday, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) launched a widespread arrest campaign across various areas of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, detaining approximately 60 Palestinians, including two children, two women, and a number of workers, constituting a blatant violation of international law and human rights.
In Nablus, forces arrested Eyad Nazmi Owais from the village of Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya, south of the city.
In Ramallah, they raided several homes and detained Wafaa Yousef Abu Ghalmi and her two sons, Raef and Ramzi Abdullah Khoury, following raids in the Al-Tira neighbourhood and the village of Taybeh.
In Hebron governorate, six individuals were detained, including a 15-year-old boy. The detainees were: Mahmoud Samer Oweidat, Abdul Nasir Thaer Halaika, Ismail Mohamed Ali Halaika from Al-Shuyoukh town, Uday Yasser Abu Turki from Hebron city, Ayman Dadra from Al-Fawwar camp, and the child Mahmoud Rabhi Ikhleel from Beit Ummar, north of Hebron.
In the town of Ya’bad, south of Jenin, seven people were arrested: Nawras Qabha, Yazeed Abu Abed, Fares Herzallah, Firas Qabha, Aroud Abu Bakr, Saleh Abbadi, and Islam Hamarsheh.
In Nablus governorate again, four individuals were detained, including two women: Raafat and Mohamed Hosni Al-Jubai from Rafidia, Khaled Samer Stitiya from Al-Yasmina quarter in the Old City, and Dhekra Raafat Naser (22) from Deir Sharaf, west of the city.
In Jerusalem, over 40 Palestinian workers were arrested at the Az-Za’im military checkpoint to the east of the city, part of a systematic policy to prevent Palestinians from reaching their workplaces inside the 1948 territories. Such measures have previously led to the deaths and injuries of workers attempting to cross the separation wall.
These arrests are part of the occupation’s broader repressive policies, violating the rules of international humanitarian law, particularly the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit arbitrary detention of civilians in occupied territories. The practices also breach the rights of children to protection from arrest, and the rights of women and Palestinian workers to access their livelihoods.
These policies impose a dual siege on civilians, combining movement restrictions with threats to basic rights, exacerbating the suffering of the population, especially amid the ongoing aggression on Gaza since October 2023.
This campaign confirms that the occupation continues to violate Palestinians’ fundamental rights through mass arrests, repeated raids, and targeting of vulnerable groups such as children, women, and labourers, constituting a systematic breach of international law.
