The Israeli occupation forces continue to flagrantly violate international humanitarian law through the direct and repeated targeting of civilians, in clear violation of the principles of distinction and proportionality, amounting to grave crimes that cannot be interpreted or justified.
In this context, the Israeli occupation army killed four Palestinians on Thursday in two separate drone strikes targeting civilian gatherings east of Gaza City. This constitutes yet another violation of the ceasefire that has been in effect since October 2015, and occurred on the eve of Eid al-Fitr.
Medical sources reported that the bodies of the two victims, Daifallah al-Fayoumi and Ali al-Mamlouk, arrived at al-Ma’madani Hospital in the city center after a civilian gathering was targeted near al-Shawa Square in eastern Gaza.
The sources added that shortly afterward, another drone strike targeted a civilian gathering in the neighboring al-Zaytoun district, killing two more Palestinians, Hamza Siam and Muhammad Farhat. Their bodies were transferred to al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City.
This comes amid ongoing violations of the ceasefire, with data indicating that 677 Palestinians have been killed and 1,813 others wounded since the agreement came into effect on October 10, 2025.
Targeting civilian gatherings in this manner constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and confirms the deliberate intent to kill civilians, especially given the absence of any military necessity to justify these attacks. The continuation of these actions, despite the ceasefire, reflects a clear disregard for international legal obligations and necessitates holding those responsible accountable for these grave crimes.
With US support, the Israeli occupation launched a large-scale war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, which lasted for two years and continued in various forms afterward. This resulted in the deaths of more than 72,000 Palestinians and injuries to approximately 172,000, in addition to widespread destruction of most of the infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
