The daughter of human rights advocate Hoda Abdelmonem had shared a post on her Facebook account detailing the injustice her mother has been going through for three years inside Egyptian prisons.
Fadwa Khaled, daughter of Hoda Abdelmonem, stated that her mother who was very active throughout her life has become unable to move except with crutches. “Her two kidneys are in a critical stage, and she suffered more than once a possible cardiac arrest.”, adding “all these are the news we hear from outside.”
She also spoke about the inhumane conditions of detention of Hoda, in addition to denying her the right to receive family visitation.
Hoda, who is over 60 years of age, has been arbitrarily detained for three years and three months as she was arrested on November 01, 2018, under unfounded charges in relation to her human rights work in an attempt to silence her.
It is worth noting that Hoda is a former member of the National Council for Human Rights and worked on sensitive human rights cases, such as providing legal advice to the families of victims of enforced disappearances, before she becomes one of those victims during Albdelfattah Al-Sisi’s era.
