Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) emphasised that the Israeli occupation is using all media, diplomatic and political means to silence the institutions of the international community and terrorise its officials and representatives. It spreads lies, rumours, and attacks everyone who goes against the occupation’s narratives, upholds international law or exercises their official role in monitoring and criticising the crimes of the Israeli occupation.
The Zionist organisation, UN Watch, is a tool of the Israeli occupation to promote rumours and lies. It deliberately fabricated charges against Francesca Albanese – the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967 – of anti-Semitism, supporting terrorism, and receiving bribes, for her criticism of the genocide crimes committed by Israel against the Gaza Strip for more than a month and a half.
On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, the UN Watch sent a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, demanding the dismissal of Albanese for “receiving bribes and suspicious funds from Palestinian pressure groups in Australia in exchange for criticising Israel and affirming the Palestinians’ right to defending themselves,” which are false allegations intended to damage Albanese’s reputation due to her position.
Albanese’s position on the fascist Israeli war on the Gaza Strip is a victory for international law, her legal duties, and a commitment to respect human rights standards that should be supported by all governmental and non-governmental human rights organisations. All statements made by Albanese on the crimes of the Israeli occupation are supported with dozens of evidence and were within the scope of international law, international human law, and other UN treaties and resolutions.
The accusations made by UN Watch are not based on any evidence and are baseless, as Ms. Albanese acted within her role in accordance with the laws of the United Nations and did not violate any moral and professional obligations as claimed by this Zionist organisation.
AOHR UK expressed its full solidarity with Ms. Francesca Albanese, and its support for her stances in championing the rights of Palestinian victims throughout the occupied territories, her call for justice and redress for the Palestinian victims, and her calls for putting an end to the Israeli war machine. It called on the United Nations to protect all special rapporteurs from being subjected to Israeli terrorism.
The UN Watch is a biased organisation and works mainly on attacking those exposing and criticising the Israeli crimes and brutal practices. The executive director of UN Watch is the Canadian Hillel Neuer, who appeared in this war on Gaza, defended all practices of the Israeli occupation, and justified the crimes it commits in violation of the international law.
The occupation gangs have crossed all red lines, violated all international conventions and laws, and caused great human losses, yet there are those who still defend them in international forums in attempts to wash away their heinous crimes.
Not only has the international community failed to stop the Israeli killing, destruction, or supporting victims, providing protection for hospitals, providing clean drinking water, or any safe place for those fleeing the bombing and air strikes that have damaged the entire Strip, including the UNRWA institutions and schools, but it still attempts to terrorise those who criticise the heinous crimes of the Israeli occupation.
AOHR UK called on all international organisations to adhere to their professional and moral duty and enforce international law, and to voice their stances without fear of direct and indirect Israeli intimidation and pressures. It also called on all human rights organisations, activists and human rights defenders around the world to support the positions of officials of international institutions who adhere to international law and believe in human rights without discrimination.
