The West Bank continues to suffer under Israeli occupation’s policy of systematic violence, marked by repeated military raids and expanding settler attacks under army protection, indicative of a growing pattern of crimes against humanity targeting Palestinians daily.
Ahmad Jihad Barahmeh, 19, was shot and killed by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in the village of Anza, south of Jenin, on Wednesday morning. Local sources report that Barahmeh was struck in the back during a military raid while students were on their way to school. Though rushed to the hospital in critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The IOF disrupted daily life in the village around 7:30 AM, occupying the home of Ali Bassam Ataya and turning it into a military post. From this position, soldiers opened fire at residents, fatally wounding Barahmeh before withdrawing. Simultaneous raids occurred in nearby towns such as Ya’bad, Sanur, and Umm Dar.
Saeed Murad Naasan, 20, was killed on Tuesday evening after being shot in the chest by Israeli settlers during an attack on Al-Mughayyir village, northeast of Ramallah. The assault was carried out with the full protection of Israeli occupation forces.
At least five other Palestinians were injured in the same incident, one of them critically. According to the head of the village council, Amin Abu Alia, settlers stormed a public park in the southeastern area of the village and opened fire on locals, killing Naasan and wounding others.
Naasan’s killing brings the number of Palestinians killed by settlers since the beginning of 2025 to 12. Since 7 October 2023, that figure has reached 34, according to official Palestinian sources.
These incidents illustrate the dangerous coordination between the Israeli military and armed settler groups, with the military providing cover for settler assaults, an egregious violation of international law.
This cooperation reflects not isolated incidents, but a deliberate strategy to intimidate and displace Palestinians from their land. Such actions fall within the definition of crimes against humanity and call for urgent international accountability.
