On Monday evening, October 21, 2024, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) killed 13 Lebanese, including a child, and injured 57 others, in a bombing on the vicinity of Rafik Hariri Hospital in southern Beirut, according to the Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.
It explained in a statement that “of the injured, 17 were wounded with serious injuries who required hospitalisation for treatment, while 7 of them are in critical conditions”, adding that the raid also caused significant damage to Hariri Hospital.
On Monday evening, the occupation air force launched a raid on the hospital’s vicinity without prior warning, which resulted in the initial death toll of 4 people, including a child, and the injury of 24 others.
The aggression on Lebanon since October 2023 has resulted in a total of 2,483 dead and 11,628 wounded, including a large number of women and children, in addition to more than 1,340,000 displaced persons. Most of the victims and displaced persons were recorded after September 23.
The numbers are expected to rise due to the continued “most violent and extensive” aggression by the IOF on Lebanon since September 23, with the beginning of the confrontations with “Hezbollah” about a year ago.
Hezbollah and Palestinian factions in Lebanon demand an end to the war of extermination waged by the Israeli occupation with American support on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has left more than 137,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing.
It is noteworthy that international law protects civilians in conflict zones, and directly targeting them is a serious violation which requires a comprehensive investigation to hold those responsible accountable.
