Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) stated that Ben Gvir, the minister in the occupation government, is applying extremist hostile policies and issuing inciting statements, through which he seeks to ignite a large-scale religious war in the region. As the extermination war waged by the occupation government, which based on Talmudic stories and legends, Ben Gvir seeks to apply these texts to Al-Aqsa Mosque to build the so-called Temple.
On Monday, August 26, 2024, Itamar Ben Gvir, Minister of National Security in the government of war, issued a new statement on the Israeli army’s radio expressing his willingness to build a “Jewish synagogue” inside Al-Aqsa Mosque, where he said, “If it was up to me, I would build a synagogue inside the Temple Mount”, adding “my policy is to allow Jews to pray on the Temple Mount.”
These statements coincided with the increased storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its courtyards by extremist settlers under the protection of the occupation soldiers. Ben Gvir, another member of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, and about 3,000 settlers, stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque and assaulted Muslim worshippers there two weeks ago.
These criminal practices and dangerous statements are part of many attempts to change the status quo in Al-Aqsa Mosque, which would result in more violence in the region and a wide religious war, especially since these practices come amidst an ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip, and an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, in addition to the Israeli government’s disregard of all resolutions issued by the United Nations General Assembly, the Security Council, the International Court of Justice and other international organisations.
Ben Gvir, known for his long criminal history of violence and incitement against Arab and Muslim, has repeatedly participated in provocative acts that resulted in an escalation of tensions in the region. His previous involvement in inciting violence, supporting extremist settler groups, and arming settlers has contributed mainly to the increase in crimes and terrorist attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
The criminal acts of Ben Gvir and his fellow extremists in the occupation government are not single events, but rather part of a broader strategy to end the Palestinian presence and complete the genocide and displacement policy adopted by the current Israeli government as a fixed approach against the Palestinians.
Al-Aqsa Mosque, its courtyards, buildings, and all its area, is an Islamic place of worship and any action affecting or the freedom of worship in it will not be allowed, and will be strongly faced by the Palestinians.
Talks about freedom of worship for Jews based on false historical narratives is absurd and will not change the real status of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
AOHR UK called on the OrganiSation of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League to take action at all levels to stop the ongoing genocide extending from Gaza to Al-Aqsa Mosque, as those extremists in Netanyahu’s government, headed by Ben Gvir, pose a real threat to international peace and security, and must be deterred immediately.
